PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS: Crew SC's Mensah plays 90, Afful plays 45 for Ghana today.

Crew SC's Jonathan Mensah played 90 minutes.

While Harrison Afful was the first substitute to begin the second half and played 45.

Both Crew SC defenders played decently well overall.

Mensah wasn't the defender at fault for the 1st half goal. Whereas, Afful almost scored an equalizer when he came on to begin the 2nd half.

Yet, Ghana couldn't get much of anything going offensively and puts themselves on the World Cup fence.

The lack of a result was even more of a surprise after Uganda beat Egypt for the first time since 1965 yesterday.

That result gave Ghana some hope to catch the Pharaohs.

Then Ghana tried to match that today at home by almost losing to Congo for the first time since 1967.

Ghana tied from a goal by Thomas Partey in the 86th minute.

But, if you had to do one of those rather gross Major League Soccer chance to make the playoffs weekly percentage configurations for the World Cup...

Don't think that percentage would make double digits currently for Ghana.

Ghana's current manager Kwesi Appiah likes to go instead with this.

"It's very disappointing to drop points at this crucial stage of the qualifiers but in football you can never say never. The most important thing is to try and do the best you can." Link.
