Naess has chance for first Dutch minutes against PSV tomorrow

The Norwegian joined Columbus Crew, his former club, because of his trainer. Naess said to Berhalter, "Coach, I would like to go on this adventure, Heerenveen fits perfectly for me."

For Berhalter more explanation was not necessary. The coach knew enough. The former player of Cambuur intercepted what Naess wanted and did not make it difficult. And so Naess arrived last week in Heerenveen.

"I have friends who come from Pakistan and Iraq. I do not care where people come from, I can get along well with everyone. That made me feel good at Columbus, where many foreign boys played. At Heerenveen that's no different."

"Heerenveen is seen in Norway as a big club." Which makes you wonder if Ola Kamara will soon be searching out similar.

The return to Europe has more advantages, says Naess. "When I was playing in America, it was not possible for my mother to look me up. She just could not handle the long journey. The Netherlands is much closer.  She can see me more often. That really feels like a bonus" as Naess's mother has MS.

SC Heerenveen was on international break as well and did not play last week. Naess will get a chance in his new confines tomorrow when Heerenveen plays PSV at 6:30 am EST Link.
