Gaven, Schelotto, Hejduk's for 2/19 (Saravia, Crew Academy General Manager Dennis Sanchez, Crew U16's)

Crew SC Midfielder Saravia Loaned to Sweden's IK Frej

Crew SC Midfielder Rodrigo Saravia Loaned To Sweden's IK Frej

The second year Crew SC midfielder Saravia was loaned to IK Frej of the Swedish Superettan today. The Superettan is Sweden's 2nd Division with promotion to the Allsvenskan.

IK Frej finished 10th last year. But, are a club headed to the Allsvenskan someday soon I would think.

Frej were in Tier 5 (somewhere below NPSL in US terms) in 2001 and have steadily ascended to Tier 2 since.

The loan move means that one international spot opens up.

The acquiring of Artur meant we had 10, which is now 9.

Artur, Raitala, Mensah, Abu, Kamara, Abubakar, Martinez, Saravia, Naess, Afful.

We need it to be 8 by March 4th. So I figure either Martinez, Artur, or perhaps even Abubakar... One of those three is headed towards a similar loan situation for the 2017 season.

But, is that in Pittsburgh or somewhere else like Sweden?

If it's Martinez, who after watching Saturday for Panama I believe can do some damage for us this year off the bench, or Artur I would like the same to occur.

A loan somewhere where the loan could be of help to them and build them into an even stronger player for Crew SC.

Pittsburgh can only likely be of help to Swanson, Hollingsworth, perhaps Abubukar or Hansen for a season. Same with Maloney and Ketterer.

Frej's manager Bartosz Grzelak sounds super jacked when asked about acquiring Saravia, "I have no comment on the data," wrote Frey manager Bartosz Grzelak in a text message to Football Channel.

Columbus Crew Academy General Manager Dennis Sanchez and Pittsburgh Riverhounds Co-Owner and CEO Jason Kutney Speaking of Relationship on Pittsburgh Scholastic Soccer Show

The complete podcast is here, but since it's over an hour in length I cut to the Crew SC parts.

If you go to 38:30 in you can hear Pittsburgh Riverhounds Co-Owner and CEO Jason Kutney discussing partnership.

But, things get more concrete listening to Crew Academy General Manager Dennis Sanchez's discussion... Which starts at 44 minutes in.

At 53:50 in, in full podcast they discuss their thoughts about what Sanchez said.

But very interesting. Gives you a definite low down on what the Crew are doing in Pittsburgh. And heck of a little podcast, well done.
