3. The Best Player in MLS

Not surprisingly the Canadian Press says it's Giovinco. So does Ola Kamara.

Ask Matteo Mancosu who's the best player in MLS and the Montreal Impact striker doesn't miss a beat.

"Giovinco," the Italian said immediately.

Columbus Crew forward Ola Kamara is equally certain. "Giovinco, for sure," said the Norwegian.

"It's like playing against Michael Jordan," Philadelphia defender Richie Marquez said of facing the Toronto FC star. "It doesn't matter how much film you watch or how many times you play him, he's still going to dominate."

Not a shocking choice with a MVP award the year prior over one Kei Kamara. Followed by ending that same voting in fourth this year.

"$600k DP's ain't gonna cut it anymore. If this team does not sign an impact offensive player prior to the end of March, we're in for a long season.

We see a lot of teams bringing in multimillion dollar players. I think we all know that Columbus isn't the town for that. But I don't see why we can't find $750k-$900k impact starters that can make a difference."

Maybe we should become the town for that. Once. Why not?

Easier to say when it isn't my money. But, think Ola could use some concrete help behind him. Think Columbus could always use a boost in attendance; as well as selling more Crew stuff with the correct name.

2. World Cup 2026 To Have 90's-Style MLS Shootouts? Yeah, no joke.

You put that along with NFL teams playing in MLS stadiums and Donald Trump as our President, I'm pretty sure I've died and ended up in an amusing alternative reality.

The second will happen in 2017 as the San Diego Chargers will become the Los Angeles Chargers and play at the Home Depot Center.

The first now may, which is ludicrously smart or ludicrously stupid; and either way it is ludicrously amusing.

Columbus Crew goalkeeper Brad Friedel on shootouts.

In one of my first games we drew 1-1, so I walked off the pitch and into the locker room. The equipment manager came in and said, “What are you doing? You have a shootout; nobody told you?” I did know; I had just completely forgotten. I had to put my shirt back on to go back out.

And Eric Wynalda said it best,

I hated it. You had the rest of the world going, “What the hell are they doing?” All of my friends in Germany would just laugh at us."

Well. As Justin Timberlake used to say, "what goes around, comes back around."

1. Nicolai Naess turns 24. Gratulerer med dagen! Looking forward to his first full season.

Hoping it becomes more his team and Ola Kamara's this year compared to others.

Last year Naess was a bit of an afterthought, came in too late to affect much.

Hell, even Ola couldn't overcome the Kei, Higuaín Titanic sinking with 16 goals. Good to see both have an idea of all and get to start from beginning this go around.
