5/31/16: Ola Kamara Goal Video

I usually like to put together a few videos a season.

Hasn't been anything to tempt me until after Saturday night.

Music is a remix of Ruffneck Bad Boy by Mat Zo vs. Muscle by Low Pros (Gladiator Remix). It's actually my own remix of the two songs, lol so be kind.

Just figured may be fun to see all three goals again, real quick. Can cheer up a Tuesday.

5/26/16: Columbus vs. Cincinnati Open Cup Scenario

*A few Columbus Crew fans have complained about a Open Cup matchup with FC Cincinnati taking place at Jesse Owens, if it occurs. Link here.

They want it to take place at a larger stadium or Mapfre.

I'm not too upset because first off could not happen (find out on June 1st) and if it does Columbus fans won't likely come out in droves if it's against USL Cincinnati.

Because a.) it's the Open Cup and b.) it's against a team that didn't exist last year. Would perhaps be more fascinating playing the Cleveland Crunch.

At best, it's a Toronto FC-esque circle jerk in Crew Stadium. Who wouldn't want to avoid that, lol.

But is it going to be profitable if Cincy brings a couple thousand fans? If it is might be worth considering next go around.

If it would be, I'm sure the Columbus Crew would change it since they're running a business.

*If Cincinnati were the home team actually. More marquee matchup in my opinion and may be more fun for us.

Away matches are always interesting.

Also, worked at a USL club. The hugest thing on their schedule is the U.S. Open Cup. They're circling a possible matchup with Columbus. Cincy has already took a shot at Columbus on their twitter.

So, why are we home? How it happens in most soccer-related Cups around the world (FA Cup and etc.) the minnow is at home (or at least home and away). Because it's a big deal when Wimbledon hosts Manchester United, not a big deal when it's reversed. About the same for Columbus or any MLS team.

If it were in Cincy. Opportunity for Nordecke to bring the entire section, which in turn could be sort of impressive (although I'm sure their "supporter groups" are already Orlando City cool). Yet could attract a few future Nordeckians from the South; who may want to view better soccer and can afford a ticket for more than a dollar.

And does it matter for us to be the home team since it's a struggle for MLS teams to focus on the U.S. Open Cup anyways?

Why not give Cincinnati another chance at a record, give Crew players an experience with a charged up opposition crowd.

Nothing can be done to change who the home team is lol, but would've been cool to catch a game in another locale. Cincinnati isn't a bad time.

*But should throw the game in Mapfre because who truly knows, just in case, could turn out exceptional. Or well.

It could be a complete shitdud. But, if it is so what? oh well. Put it where it can succeed just in case.

*Yet, why always second guess management? Maybe the Crew FO are just making sure they're not playing the Rowdies in the 4th Round and they have a 187 attendance.

If June 2nd Cincinnati is in the Fourth Round. They should change it if they can.

Things get heated rivalry wise on the East Coast. Browns vs. Steelers. NYRB vs. NYCFC even had 40,000 fans and they're probably two of the most plastic teams in MLS.

Never seen a Columbus vs. Cincinnati matchup. Who knows. But, could kick off an intense and real future rivalry, coming off of erm "rivalry week."

*Speaking of which.. Columbus looked good against Toronto FC.

Good enough for a tie. Someone on the team needs to learn how to finish.

Our team should put this as their sponsor on the new jerseys with recent finishing.
Kind of matchy, matchy actually.

*Higuaín looked good. Have been on him since the Kamara thing; Questioning whether we should've went the other way on that.

But, credit where credit is due. Looked good or better. Not enough for me to say that was the correct move but was better.

Better enough for a tie.

*Afful, Cedrick, Sauro are unavailable against Real Salt Lake. Tchani and Francis are either injured or in the Berhalter doghouse. Ruff, ruff.

Sauro being out for five months puts a sincere PS perhaps on the fact that the Crew will absolutely do nothing this year.

Happy thoughts, lol.

Looks like the perfect venue for a first matchup.

5/20/16: Nothing To Complain About.. So.

Well today. So you know what that means..

     Let's complain about jerseys!

Real men quite simply wear yellow and black.

So do real women

And scantily clad women.

You know what it is..

5/19/16: TFC Rivalry, Christian Martinez, Etc.

I expect, I don't know. A tie.

* We play our rivals this week. I think.

How did (or do) we consider Toronto F.C. a rival?

Some tough times in MLS about 7 or 8 years ago I guess, if that was a rival. Toronto is like half a country away. I think I've been there twice in my life.

Both times were likely for a Crew-TFC game or to hang out with my best friends.

Oh I forgot.

A.) Columbus weather is like Miami to Canadians. So a lot of them.
B.) Bad security.

*We signed somebody! Usually we just let people leave (so a bit startling).

Either give Federico a grumpy face or be home sick... Forget that contract, go on vacation!

Be distressingly massive my friends.

Anyways, we signed one Christian Martinez. He takes up an international spot, is on loan, will likely never play because he is 19, and is our 14th midfielder.

Probably means he will be our best player. Makes sense.

5/17/16: Crew After Their Form of Ibrahimovic

Someone else with a difficult name to spell, Idriss Mhrisi.

Sorry if I broke your heart. Kei Kamara is the closest we'll ever get to a star in yellow and black. If you didn't know that, god help you.

Rumor link here on Idriss Mhrisi.

He's a winger (surprise there) that can play centrally as well.

Umm, my only thought on this is his first goal happens to be of the sweet variety on this video:

My second thought, what else is there to say.

Not magnificently exciting if that's what were after, after grasping a million of roster cap space and a DP, as well as gaining an international slot, were after a player paid $25,000 in Tunisia last year?

Enjoy your 2016 Crew fans!

Why not just take the million in roster space and invite all Crew fans to a Kevin Hart free show at Mapfre. Lol, why not at this point.

5/15/16: Best 45 Yet Is Progress

Get in there (Greg Bartram-USA TODAY Sports)

Best 45 minutes yet of the season is progress.

Sure the game could've been better with three points. But, that, against probably the best team we've played (Colorado is supremely legit and were impressive with Doyle, Jones, and Gashi) is good. Especially when considering the week we've had, I expected worse.

Truth is Cedrick's first half was more dangerous in comparison to what Finlay has done all season in 9 games.

I like Finlay. When he is at his top, hell of a player. Think he has a lot to offer us this season. But, True or False?

Leave him on the bench for a while. It will be okay, really Gregg.

That said, I think Finlay has great talent/ability (confidence right now, as someone said in other thread, could be better) and why not maybe put Finlay at attacking midfield for Higuaín who does absolutely nothing for me. Really. Could it really be much worse? Or put Finlay at striker, didn't he start with us as a striker?

Nooo can't do that with COPA America coming up and Gregg won't. But, hey better than the bench. Where he legitimately may belong behind Cedrick after tonight (not that Gregg could ever give someone a go over his team legends). And I rather have him on the field. Just put him in another position, if it gets Cedrick on as well.

Anyways, if we never see you again, thanks for a great play and goal, Cedrick.

On the Higuain note. Sell him too this Summer, save up more money for a star striker (hey if that somehow got us closer to Zlatan, lol).

But on the serious note, we would perhaps be better off or fine playing like Larsen in Higuaín's position (or no worse at all) and starting Cedrick on the wing.

And/or perhaps we could put two up top, hell even Ola and Finlay (don't think Ola was bad). But, some plan has to be decided now, implemented, and our team has to be fully in. We need to be getting three points every week for a while.

On the Ola is shorter than Kei thing. So, we got a shorter striker (ever see Messi) lets do less crosses then (duh) play down the middle more. For example, Ola's runs would've been bomb down the middle, if Meram and others could create a final pass to him.

I think Larsen might be a dope little player, he had two ridiculous passes that no one will probably notice. But, FYI play Cedrick on a wing, Larsen in the middle, we will be pretty good I think. Have a feeling with both of those players. If Gregg Berhalter could ever have that feeling about any NEW SIGNING. Hell wasn't Ethan Finlay a forward when he first came to us. Throw him back up there, if it means getting Cedrick on the field.

Probably be as good as Ola was. Or give Ola more time (thought he was fine).

What I would go with next game:

Don't think Ashe was bad. But, also wouldn't put our struggles on anything Waylon Francis did. Thought he played just as well, a more dangerous player out of the back (although Ashe has solid points, especially defensively, so would be okay either way).

And put Ola back in at 60 minutes.

Also, impressive on Parkhurst for playing with a popped shoulder all game. That's some captain stuff there.

5/12/16: Devils Advocate- What If The Crew Took Kei's Side Over Federico In This Row

There's Only One Kamara Now.. Ola.

Finally, you all can focus on me.

And finally, Gregg Berhalter will have to start a new signing offensively, in a continuous fashion, before two years have elapsed.

That should make him melt with joy.

First, I want to say thanks to Kei Kamara for last season. That was dope.

Your reactions this season. Not as dope.

Even if true.

Fyi, If someone's on a hat trick and (especially if your up 3-1) you give it to them. Even if it's your central defender.

If your teammates are looking to pad their stats as the highest PK converter in team history (lol, everyone remembers that) you shouldn't cry like a baby either.

But, yet...

Frankly, I would've been better with two Higuaín's (Gonzalo) and one going.

Frankly, Hejduk.

Say, they got in a brotherly tussle and Federico had to go; Because he was you know being rude.

Think it may be ok.

We may be more dangerous just throwing Emil Larsen in, with the rest of our talented midfield today behind Kei. Even without the dream fantasy of Gonzalo, we could've taken Kei in this row and perhaps landed better.

Think about it. Before Kei, no MLS Cup in Columbus.. After Kei, we play like shit in one.

Still, if you didn't think his goals played a role in getting there. Best of luck.

Before Higuaín, Schelotto glory. After Higuaín, has great moments but playoff side at best.

His play last season was questioned numerous times on Bigsoccer, but has improved this year.

Yet, Emil (or well anyone) has speed or more of it. Won't have to reverse his play direction out of being slower than every other player on the pitch. Higuain could probably count the times he's run past somebody on one hand, with the ball.

Sometimes I think Federico slows things down too much.

So, I wonder if we might've been better off going with Kei in this hat trick controversy. Putting a more athletic, easier replacement, in Higuaín's place. And going more athletic.

Not trying to be mean. But, Federico isn't the athlete that Kei is.

I would've been okay with Larsen/Mabwati in addition to Finlay, Meram feeding Kei.

Perhaps more dangerous. Tougher to defend.

But, not going to happen. So, lets get behind Ola and hope he can surprise us up top.

I've liked his limited minutes off the bench. Some excellent runs.

This dumb good bye tweet below may help you. Who knows GB, AP might be more than right saying good riddance.
Nevertheless, Ola should send Kei flowers. If not for Kei going crazy, I bet Ola never sees more than 15 minutes on a pitch this season. As Cedrick has been here for over a year and probably has yet to log 90 minutes in total.

Also, enjoy your time with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Emil Larsen. Because if Federico Higuaín won the Higuaín/Kamara battle there's no one ever playing in front of him this season.

That's why I'm not a fan of the DP status in MLS. Someone gets put as a DP and basically they can never see a bench.

I don't think Kamara went about it well at all, just playing devil's advocate. I credit him for not being afraid to voice something. Something, anything. Too many times this team is like "blah, blah, blah we lost. Everything's good" this year.

At worst, this shit storm forced something and hopefully it leads to a positive. In all directions. But, mostly ours.. And it could.

Just happy if it changes the terrible direction this team is driving in with a GPS updated 5 years ago.

Him and Higuaín weren't on the same page. They say more weren't on the same page with Kei in the locker room. Hell Tchani may be on another page, might not be injured. Won't be good for us, Kamara, Higuaín, or anyone Crew if they all start games on 11 different pages (or new chapters as Precourt would say).

So start anew. Even any new is better, even if some would've wished that new differently.

I just hope Ola can score. And the Crew make more than just legit rumors of a great signing in the Summer. Those are leaps, start with baby steps.

5/11/16: The Nordecke

My first tifo.. Perhaps the Nordecke's first crowd banner. I remember standing below the section and a few were yelling that they wouldn't put the banner up minutes before it went crowd born. Those same people ended up being my best friends later on down the road.

First off, I have little idea what the climatic drama could be between Nordecke groups or supporters today. And if there is anything serious? But, I can guarantee we've likely been there before. I could name off worse scenario's between fights, swear chants, racist fan incident, etc. in 2008, 2009.

Currently I'm in the section 3-4 times a year (live in PA), used to be in the Nordecke for every game for years. But, problems rarely change. If I'm way off base and someone wants to give me the low down go ahead.

But, one thing I know. I know everyone is strong enough to get past disagreements, and will, in the Nordecke.

Even when I was weak, and nothing in the slightest to do with soccer, the Nordecke was there.

I was recently in a bad accident in December, the Nordecke unexpectedly reached out and it touched my heart to be remembered.

So, have amazing faith in you all as a group.

Some of the individuals involved I've met often.
Some once or twice.
Some not at all. Haven't been as involved now (distance, career, etc.) so to be thought of.

This was profound guys.

I spent over a month in the hospital.
On top of that, when I'm not involved with the occasional video production for a sporting event, I'm a waiter 95% of the time.
Ala, not exactly living the high life. Every bit I needed. Needed.

Thank you.

By the way, right thing to say, but my alertness at the time wasn't great. I don't remember seeing Matt (my mom does) and when I was taken to the rehabilitation hospital after his visit I thought I was being kidnapped. :-) But, the news of the Nordecke donation hit me wonderfully when I finally came to... Was one of the few pleasant surprises for what was a hard month.

The Nordecke was a very important part of my life back in the day, I think about it often, and still is.

Very proud to see it expand and be a massive blob of color weekly. Back in the day there were a lot of weeks it would be half full. So, progress has been made, even if some weeks it's been not as fast as you would like. Progress still amazes me.

In March 2008, it was really just a fun idea.

Toronto @ Columbus home opener.

Over 8 years later. 8 years! Were still here. Be proud.

I've met some of the best people in the section. The most creative, if that matters to the world as well as the overall look of the group.

My advice for those that have an idea but have naysayers..

If you think it's in the best interest of the whole section, and it's in your heart, do it.

2009 opener

A personal example, went crazy adhd over this two stick tifo idea. Myself and some friends did. It took a bit of campaigning. But, had 50% of others invested into it as well on opening day.

Some people were like meh, you'll have that.
While constant others built their own two sticks and brought them along.

Thought it looked great. One of my favorite pictures.

But, I'll just say if you and your friends have an idea. Just try. Constructively. And it will help.

And it led to much, much more..
Some of the most priceless memories down the line, personally...
My apartment in Columbus back in 2009

That banner made rounds multiple games.

Lol, straight outta Chillicothe
Some not so great ideas. Lol, what is that design above?
Enough fabric to open our own JoAnn Fabrics

It even led to getting so good at designing a banner that you could even free hand, if design was next to fabric.
Bruno character wearing TFC colors and Elmer Fudd both freehanded, one of about ten.

Kind of fun personally.. Growing up in rural Western PA my art class was like one year of painting when I was six, lol.

Anyways, here's my opinion on some Nordecke ideas in the future and on the direction I would look to pursue for those looking for options in the Nordecke and maybe elsewhere (as a group and individually).

1.) I would like the Nordecke group to consider the idea of a submission website online where people can submit donation ideas. Crew fans throughout the year could submit causes every once in a while and if it's something (the supporter group leaders or say if there was one day leaders, reps of the entire group think we can all get behind) after reviewing it, then offer it at a game.

Don't have to go crazy. But, maybe once every month, or two months.

Just send around a donation can.. If people aren't for the cause or broke don't have to donate. But, say out of 3,000 people, if 1,000 donate, just give a dollar, can help some people out and become a great group in all people's eyes in this city.

That would be amazing and show quite a level of maturity from our early days.

By donating, the Nordecke helped me out and made me feel better in some not so great times. Would like to extend that to others as well and charities. If we put $4 bucks to that instead of a beer at the game. Afterwards, we might all feel quite awesome.

2.) If fans are disagreeing in the Nordecke, lol, this isn't a crisis or a new crisis. There's been several times where groups (and people in the section) haven't gotten along in the past in this section.

And the disagreements always end and we pull through. It will happen again.

3.) The situation has been much, much, much more desperate than some arguing. Trust me. There's been many of times where the section was in crisis, with the team looking to split it up, from smoke bombs or from the one New England racial slur by an idiotic fan incident. Or West Ham. Or fights with TFC fans. Or we've been told to stop swear chanting over the PA system.

It appears a bit more PC nowadays honestly, lol.

4.) Get along if you could- We all like the yellow light blue, red soccer team, were all in it for the best reasons and have no ill will idea wise. No one is trying to make us all look bad with an idea, no matter how excellent or questionable. Sometimes it's better to get behind the questionable and it leads into the greatest idea. Support each other, look for a solution.

5.) No supporters group gets paid the most off of attention.
Or gets a parade down Broad Street.
So, do it together. More will be accomplished that way.

6.) Even if you think your ideas are the best. Actually listen to others and think their ideas over. No one gets a million bucks for the most Massive idea. Do it for everyone in the section and the team. And that's it.

7.) Sometimes people just complain or reject an idea because they have no idea.

And perhaps don't like you for having one.

Their idea is to do nothing. So don't let that get to you if so.

8.) If something can't be broached, grow elsewhere.

For seasons, it's hard to find a empty seat in the Nordecke. This is great.. Or a pain in the ass if you have tickets elsewhere. I've had three or four times where I was on a date or with family, screwed up, and couldn't get into the section unless I did a deep six operative move.. Since you can't freely saunter into the section. But, that also means support can develop elsewhere freely because it's not that way in the rest of the stadium.

More talent might make it in other places because of the situation on game day. Can't be introduced to the Nordecke without a ticket, but could with another group (underneath the scoreboard for example) because seating is much more lax there.

More loud, chanting support around the whole stadium isn't a bad thing. I don't think anyone will be against that.

9.) It's okay to get frustrated. I have at times.

But, the good far outweighed the bad. Trust me, 2008 to 2010, was always in the Nordecke. Was some of my best times.

10.) Also, if you are frustrated. Just keep it inside and see how you feel tomorrow. Don't become drastic. Because you will usually realize it wasn't a big deal.

11.) But, if you have a great idea. People will get behind it in the Nordecke.

If I had a good tifo or Rick Thomas did or someone else in the group, or we got going with the two stick tifo, people got behind it because they probably figured "yeah that might be cool."

So, don't quit on something. If you believe it, keep moving and others will come along.

12.) I'm all for a chant leader if it's someone we can all respect. We tried this once in either 2008 or 2009 for a game with Michael Blakeley. I think it went well but was never tried again.

If a leader can focus on all groups and bring all of their chants in. La Turbina for one. HSH for another and etc..

If its loud and everyone in the section can get behind that chant because of that might shock the rest of the stadium. Because at times I think we were a lot louder in 2008, 2009.

Were afraid of change. But, sometimes it may make us better.

Same as donation website.. Just have some candidates run on there to for a couple chant leader positions.

If it goes horribly. Return to what we usually do.

Glory to Columbus. Here we go

5/10/16: A Simple Solution

For the love of sanity give Cedrick and other talent a run in the starting lineup. (Picture by Kyle Robertson/ Columbus Dispatch)

I've agreed with a lot and not a lot after Saturday. But, I agree totally with the poster who posted the top reply to a story and also posted the last one.

Exactly, on the last comment. It was embarrassing on both parts.

Quite simply both Kei and Federico need to look at their play and attitude so far this year.

They do make the most money. They are the leaders.

Things have been not up to par from the top or well anywhere in 2016.

I want people leading the Crew where losing a home opener against Philadelphia is not ok. Losing in general, drives them nuts.

They go mental if we do lose and try to move Heaven, Earth to win. FYI, that's their job. This team (if you don't know because sometimes it seems they don't) SHOULD WIN A LOT MORE NOW.

A question. Who can flip out in the locker room and make everyone realize this isn't Columbus Crew play in 2016? Federico, Kei? Perhaps not and perhaps that's the problem. Who can, anyone?

They haven't found a solution. So, sit both and find out if either wants to.

Also, look for a solution ELSEWHERE.

If it wasn't for Cedrick against RBNY (58 seconds into this video), we may not have MLS Cup (for sure) in Columbus last year.

He has been a patient player. Hasn't complained. So, start him over Finlay (who hasn't been remarkable this year either) or Higuaín. He, out of anyone, deserves a run of starting minutes. Give it to him.

The starters are not getting the job done this year. So, LOOK ELSEWHERE.

For one, we signed a 24 year old (in the same position as Higuaín) who has been capped with Denmark. SEE WHAT HE HAS. Give him a shot in that position. Kei isn't the only one wrong here.

Next game I would start Cedrick for Finlay, Ola for Kei, and Emil Larsen for Federico Higuaín. It may be I don't know, refreshing.

If one plays better and really shines. Play them. We have 9 points in 9 games.

Unless any of our starters get really up and into it. FIND SOMEONE THAT WILL.

That's on Berhalter more than anyone else.

Berhalter's thinking to anchor players in the starting lineup no matter team results or their individual play is on him. Maybe if he kicked a player or two in the ass, sat them, for sub-par play we wouldn't be here and instead they would currently be motivated.

And not to have a PK taker set. Make one set all the time and this isn't an issue. We win 4-1 and this is an easier week.

Shouldn't just suspend Kei. But, should suspend himself and Federico. There's no good side to be on in this. Just need to look elsewhere on team. Their may be better options available, people who want to win.

Never will find out if we don't play them.

5/7/16: Everybody In Yellow & Black Needs To Keep Their Head, And Keep It Up

First things first..

Were STILL SOMEHOW only 6 points off of first place in the East. This would be good enough for 2nd place in the EPL. SO RELAX. Crew players, Nordecke Supporter Groups, Kei Kamara, Gregg Berhalter... Relax. One extra minute tonight of discernable defense and we are currently in 4th place.

The standings will be the same next week. The Crew have been awful. But, every team in the Eastern Conference has been as bad. The Impact haven't won in four games and lead the division. So, start the season today how you want it Crew (preferably a lot better) and it will be fine.

Also, for those that think were a legacy club, FYI we usually suck at the beginning of nearly every season. It's not going to change because we hosted MLS Cup. What did you expect 9-0-0. Were usually mediocre until mid-Summer and then hit a hot streak.

7 out of 12 points in the last four games isn't bad.

Make the next 12 point stanza 9 out of 12, 10 out of 12, and continue..

Now, can we discuss struggles constructively if we could.

** First off, Amro Tarek's departure..

Gets one wondering even more about Emil Larsen and what happened to him? Figuring someone covers the Crew and could ask? Without being too mean to the Crew and not getting invited to golf? I mean Larsen hasn't seen a bench in 3 or 4 games.

Is he starring in Taken 4: Columbus? Is he on vacation in Denmark? Did he run away and now is churning butter in Amish country? Can someone explain to me how we sign a 24 year old Danish international that can't even find his way onto the bench? What could've happened? And then for the second year in a row we lose a defender before the midpoint of the season..

It questions some decision making in the acquisition department... But, it may just be a big hit or miss when you put it with Afful, Kamara, etc.

I don't like it two months in though. Two new signings that have already failed. That's not excellent.

** That takes us to post game. I'm like "ohh this will be another boring interview." But, that was not. I ended up much more amused, so I guess thanks Kei..

College intern didn't know how to take that one.

Anyways, nice on Kei for getting involved goal wise. Here's some help, when the reporter asks, that's a bonus and leave it at that.

Many great things about Kei currently and last season. But, may need to work on his poker face. Many times during 90 minutes you can visibly tell when he's upset; For example, when he didn't get a pass or a player didn't (at every moment) sync into his mindset.

Seen it four or five times a game. But, not going to point it out because it's Kei "Scoring More Goals Than Any Crew Striker in 40 Years" Kamara.

That stuff happens in soccer, got to learn how to brush it off or it will start to cause player conflict (like the PK).

** Speaking of which, Higuaín wasn't by anyway in the right either.

Here's Kamara, talented most of his MLS career. Enough talent to even spend some time and see moments in England. But, never worked out completely (recognition wise) until last season.

He finally gets recognition, the big contract, but finds himself on 3 goals 8 games in... Team struggling, he's struggling compared to last year.

So he's the teams striker. Let him get his hat trick and get happy. 6 goals in 9 games is way better compared to 3 in 8, much closer to his total that was part of how we got to MLS Cup.

Think you'll be happier too Higuaín because we will win A LOT more.

** In general, a lot of people on that team need to think A LOT more because were only 6 points back from first place and it's completely fixable.

** Same with some fan conflict. Were all supporting the same thing, make it more about that thing. If you think the experience can be improved in some way, look for logical steps to improve it. As long as you tried, you haven't failed and it will improve through you and others.

Glory to Columbus,
and to the Nordecke.
