7/6/2010: Battery Expect Crew To Field Starters Tonight

Here's Former Crew Player Stephen Armstrong spitting some hot fire about tonight's game:

"I think you always want to play against the best competition, and that's what I love about the U.S. Open Cup," said Battery midfielder Stephen Armstrong, 33, who played for the Crew during his four-year career in MLS. "I think when you're my age, you want to prove you can still play against elite competition. Some of the younger guys on the team are trying to get noticed, and a good showing against an MLS team is a good way to earn a contract."

With the Crew three wins away from a U.S. Open Cup trophy, Battery Head Coach Mike Anhaeuser expects to see all the Crew starters and Guillermo eventually:

"He might not start, but I think we'll see him in the second half, especially if the game is close. At this point in the tournament, you're not going to leave your best players on the bench. There's just too much at stake."

I expect the Dutch Lions to trot out mostly starters, with Leandre Griffit and Dilly Duka in exchange for Guillermo and another midfielder.

**Highlights from the Crew's second straight, home MLS win against Chicago on Saturday. Nice result, crazy three goals from the 43rd to 45th minute:
