7/16/2010: Nothing To Take From Wednesday

The only thing that should be left over from Wednesday's disappointing result against Kansas City is the gash that Lenhart took late in Wednesday's game. The 1-0 defeat to Kansas City Wednesday night was the Wizards first away win on the season. The Crew came into the game in first place in the East, the Crew were in Columbus Crew Stadium in front of the Nordecke where the Crew rarely lose, and the Crew were playing the bottom feeders in the Eastern Conference. So, what the hell happened?

The Crew fell asleep on one play, and were punished by Teal Bunbury for the single goal on the night. Then Bunbury confused the Nordecke for the U.S. Armed Forces and saluted the section.

Although dangerous the rest of the game, the Crew were not dangerous enough where I felt that the Crew would come back for a 1-1 or 2-1 result. Just didn't seem in the cards on the night. No points at home, under the conditions of first against last, is about the worst result in the book of results for the Crew.

There needs to be a change in formations against NYRB, Renteria needs to start a game (he kills it every time he is in), some players with lots of minutes like Gaven and Schelotto need a rest, and I wouldn't mind seeing Griffit in Moffat's position. If Warzycha mixes it up a bit and at least makes a few of these changes, I see the Crew getting back on track on Saturday.

The Crew must get three points. They have three home games in a row (Kansas City, New York Red Bulls, and Houston Dynamo), not getting wins in the next two equates to a bad run at home.
