7/13/2010: Semifinals Of U.S. Open Cup- Either D.C. United or Harrisburg City Islanders

Crew fans should cheer for Harrisburg City as their semifinal opponent in this year's Open Cup.

The Columbus Crew are the farthest they have been in the U.S. Open Cup tournament since winning the tournament in 2004. Out of the four teams left (Columbus, D.C. United, Harrisburg City, and Chivas USA) the Crew are the superior team and now must be considered the favorites to lift another Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The Cup would be the first step for the Crew towards lifting a treble (U.S. Open Cup, Supporters Shield, and MLS Cup).

The Crew's road in the Semifinals will be easier if Harrisburg City upsets D.C. United on July 21st, as the Crew will then host Harrisburg City at CCS on August 31st. If D.C. United wins, then D.C. United will host the semifinal at RFK on October 1st. The winner of the semifinal will then showdown against either the Seattle Sounders (2009 U.S. Open Cup winners) or Chivas USA.
