10/20/09: Update- Crew down 1-0 against Puerto Rico Away, Other Updates

**The Crew need a tie tonight to guarentee their place in the CONCACAF Champions League, at the moment the Crew are down 1-0 in the 68th minute to Puerto Rico at home. Even with a loss the Crew with 7 points can advance if Saprissa with 5 points either loses or ties tonight at 10 p.m. against Cruz Azul. The Crew game vs. Puerto Rico doesn't have a live feed and is tape delayed. But, the Cruz Azul game has a feed. I'll try to post it up on here later if possible.

**Kudos to all the Crew fans that made the trip to DC on Saturday to watch the Crew fall to D.C. United in the freezing cold rain at RFK, 1-0. The banners(above) looked nice spread out over the seats, so did the We Are Massive sign. Looked like a good contigent, too bad they were not rewarded with a good result.

**I did not go to DC, I had to back out of the trip last minute since I have a research paper, test, and group project due this week in my one Sports Management class, and a few things in another Sports Management class. So, that's why my posting has been infrequent as of late. Which is good in a way because hey maybe that means I'll pass.

I'll be back to usual Saturday morning after I turn in my research paper.

**Back to the Crew, I'm not sure that I like how the Crew are progressing right before the playoffs. I think they played well during that September stretch but also received some luck along the way with penalty calls. Lately, it's been one not so good result against Seattle at home, one very good result against New England away, and another not so good result away at DC. Too inconsistent as of late. Also doesn't seem to be going too well tonight down in Puerto Rico.

Doesn't seem like we are in any sort of stride going into the playoffs this year. Hopefully that changes in the final minutes tonight and in the last home contest against New England.

**The loss on Saturday against DC United meant that with three wins Chivas USA could eclipse the Crew and win the Supporters Shield. Thankfully, Chivas USA doesn't seem too keen on winning it either as they tied San Jose 1-1 this weekend. Also, Houston and LA eliminated themselves from the Supporters Shield by both tying in their matchup. Therefore, if the Crew beat New England at home this Saturday the Supporters Shield is their trophy. Also, if the Crew lose on Saturday and Chivas doesn't win both of their remaining games, the Supporters Shield will be in Columbus's hands.

Hopefully we can get back on track here. Go Crew!
