9/9/09: Former Crew Ticket Sales Director Chris Keeney Nails 2010 All Star Game

Fan friendly Chris Keeney with Nordecke members in April 2008 (Sam Fahmi).

During a discussion with the Crew's Chris Keeney at the beginning of the 2008 season, I felt that he had a love and ambition for the sport. That has paid off into a successful career for Keeney, now the General Manager of Lone Star Sports & Entertainment based in Houston, Texas. Keeney made the move from the Crew in the late Summer of 2008. Lone Star Sports & Entertainment basically try to secure big time gigs(like Mexican NT, European friendlies, concerts, etc.) for Houston's Reliant Stadium.

Well, Keeney today helped (through his work at LSSE) Reliant Stadium land the 2010 All Star Game. Here's his words on the move:
"I have personally seen many MLS All-Star Games in my professional career, and it's amazing how far the event has come in popularity, in quality, and in competition-level," Lone Star Sports and Entertainment general manager Chris Keeney said. "It's really a great event. We're certainly glad to be able to provide the stadium so we can turn out the largest crowd, perhaps, in all-star history, and do it in front of the greatest fans in the entire nation: Houston."

I find that a large crowd will make the MLS all star game more all star. But, come on Chris, the greatest fans in the entire nation wear black and gold.
