9/9/09: Alejandro Moreno Plays 77 Minutes In 3-1 Venezuelan Win

Moreno was held scoreless against Peru, but his teammates found the net three times to keep Venezuelan hopes for South Africa alive and kicking.

The Crew's Alejandro Moreno started and played 77 minutes in a crucial 3-1 win for Venezuela in South American qualifying over Peru. The win gives Venezuela 21 points(6-3-7), tying them with Uruguay for sixth, with the 4th automatic spot being held by Ecuador at 23 and the 5th playoff spot being held by Argentina with 22 points. The Venezuelans, if they hope to have a chance for South Africa face a tough road in their final two games, they play second place Paraguay at home on October 10th, followed up by first place Brazil away on October 13th. However, the fact that both Brazil and Paraguay have already qualified may play in the Vinotinto's favor.
