6/11/09: Crew Updates

**Since Andy Iro, Adam Moffat, and Brian Carroll are still apparently sidelined. While Duncan Oughton is out with New Zealand prepping for the Confederations Cup. The Crew will start Kevin Burns next game according to Craig Merz:

"O'Rourke's return to central defense creates the same problem Warzycha faced when Carroll went down. With Duncan Oughton away at the Confederations Cup with New Zealand and Carroll perhaps not quite ready to return to the lineup, Warzycha will have to turn to Kevin Burns -- the former Rochester Rhinos player with just 21 minutes on his MLS resume -- in a straight swap or tinker significantly with his lineup to help fill the void.

So, what do you think? Will Burns step up ala Brunner and Burns. Or will Burns struggle in his first significant start in MLS?

**Alejando Moreno went the full 90 minutes in Venezuela's 2-2 draw at home against Uruguay. The draw follows a 1-0 surprise victory against Bolivia with a team that trained at La Paz's altitude. Against Uruguay, Moreno was very involved with the first goal. However, Uruguay would register the next two goals until a fine strike by Jose Manual Rey put Venezuela level. Venezuela has 17 points, 3 behind 5th placed Ecuador with 20 points and 5 behind 4th placed Argentina with 4 games left.

Venezuela's best opportunity would be to try to snatch 5th place from Ecuador(20 points). Uruguay(18 points), Columbia(17 points), and Venezuela(17 points) are gunning for that last spot which would lead to a playoff against the fourth place team in CONCACAF qualifying.

**Duncan Oughton's New Zealand matched Italy for most of their friendly as both sides prepared for the Confederations Cup. The Kiwi's jumped out to an early lead, but Italy put in veterans second half, like Pirlo and Camoranesi, and pulled out a 4-3 victory. Oughton was given a rest this game, but Andrew Boyens of the New York Red Bulls went 90 minutes. Oughton played in a friendly 2-1 loss against Tanzania.
