4/29/09: Crew One Of Two Teams With Attendance Up Substantially From Last Year At Most Difficult Time In Season

For everyone crying about the Crew's attendance. The Crew is one of only two teams that are actually up quite substantially so far this year compared to were they were at this time last year. Chivas USA has been the winner so far this year, up 15.5 percent, as CUSA seem to be finally catching on with the local hispanic community in LA. But, the Crew seem to be making strides as well, even during a tough losing streak and a tough economy, as the Crew are up 8.8% percent during it's toughest time to sale tickets, mainly March and April. The Crew's best months are from June to September.

The following is from MLS Daily:

The Crew so far are 7th out of 15 teams, averaging around 1,000 more per game during it's toughest time to sale tickets. It's unlikely the team will have many more dreadful scenario's of Easter weekend games scheduled during Catholic Easter Vigil against Colorado in 40 degree weather during the Blue Jackets final home game in the midst of that team's first playoff run to contend with. The Crew being up 8.8% percent going into the Crew's best months is a good sign and makes an average attendance of 15,000 a possibility this year.

The Crew should have an even bigger attendance for their next home game as well against Kansas City. It's the 10th anniversary of Crew Stadium and the team is having reduced prices on just about everything.

On the other hand, so far this year DC United, Real Salt Lake, and Chicago's attendance is straight up imploding at -24, -36, and -21 respectively.
