4/28/09: Crew Reserves/Guest Players Beat Akron University 1-0

The Crew Reserve League has become the local college circuit. The Crew have played Louisville, Marshall, Akron, and next week it's Ohio State for the Connor Senn Match.

Tutich strikes against his old college side for the Crew.

Former Akron Zip Matt Tutich finished an Alex Grendi assist to give the Crew reserves a 1-0 win over Akron University tonight. The match in front of 1,563 pitted a different variation of the Champs of MLS against a top college side in Akron. The Crew team consisted of 8 contracted Crew players, 6 mainly Ohio State or Akron University guest players, the team's health and fitness guru Steve Tashijan (who curiously got a run out in the 75th minute replacing Duncan Oughton), and MLS pool keeper Ben Dragavon. What's interesting is Ben Dragavon actually played for Seattle on April 11th against Kansas City. Full write ups on the reserve match can be found here and here.

Frequent flyer miles are racking up for MLS pool goalkeeper Ben Dragavon, who makes an appearance for Seattle's first team on April 11th and now is in Ohio with the Crew Reserves.

The Crew Lineup Was: (3-5-2):
Ben Dragavon* (GK), Stanley Nyazamba, Jed Zayner, Alex Grendi, Geoff Marsch*, Kevin Burns, Duncan Oughton, Robbie Rogers, Pat Noonan, Steven Lenhart, Matt Tutich*

Substitutes:
