3/4/09: Former Crew Player Andrew Peterson Signs With Thunder

The Crew had to drop alot of reserves after the 2008 season who would have counted as senior players including Peterson. Most of them are finding new opportunities, especially in the USL.

With 2008 Crew players George Josten and Billy Chiles landing with the Portland Timbers and Crystal Palace Baltimore respectively, we now have a third Crew 2008 alum to add to the USL list. Andrew Peterson who came to the Crew with Adam Moffat near the end of 2007 season per the Cleveland City Stars, is now headed back to the USL with the Minnesota Thunder. Peterson is having basically a welcome home party as Andrew grew up in Plymouth, Minnesota playing high school soccer for local Wayzata High.

Thunder Head Coach Donny Gramenz said the following about the acquistion of Peterson, "Andrew is coming home to play in Minnesota," said Gramenz. "He is very excited and so are we as an organization. On the field, Andrew is an attacking minded outside left defender. Andrew has been training with the team since December and I am impressed with his tenacious 1v1 defending, quickness, services and his ability and instinct to go to goal. I believe his experience of winning an MLS championship with the Columbus Crew adds to our team’s mentality on and off the field."
