3/3/09: DC United Sign Crew Trialist Anthony Peters To Senior Roster Spot

Did the Crew miss out on a gem in Peters or is the DC United central defense paper thin? According to the DC Examiner (bottom of the article), DC United are in the final stages of signing Crew trialist Anthony Peters to a senior roster spot. Anthony Peters was discovered and then cut by the Crew about two weeks ago after the Crew finished training in Bradenton. The Crew's Brian Bliss stated that Peters, "would already have been signed by the Crew if he would have taken up a developmental slot." Peters is 25 and can only take up a senior spot. Hopefully, passing on Peters does not come back to bite the Crew. Peters has muscle, height at 6'5, and a fan in Bradenton said Peters was the Crew's best trialist.

If Peters wasn't quality enough for it, who are the Crew holding the last senior roster spot for? Especially, since Brunner says in the article below with Mitchell that he would be willing to accept a developmental salary spot with Columbus.
