3/17/09: Cleveland Examiner Crew Preview

A nice preview by David Argell, the MLS examiner over at the Cleveland website, Examiner.com. Mr. Argell contacted Crewture a couple weeks back about some comments for his Crew preview. Here's the excerpt that he used from the longer preview that I sent him. My comments on the Crew's season:

"The Crew will not be sneaking up on the rest of the league this year. ... What makes them special this season is their stability. They were able to keep excellent players like Schelotto and Chad Marshall.

"What will determine most if they contend this year isn't their quality, but how Warzycha manages that quality.

"The difference between Warzycha and Schmid is that Warzycha is more offensive minded. Warzycha is more likely to take risks offensively, and the question is whether Schmid's team is built for that. Most Crew fans and pundits do not seem concerned, and welcome a more attacking style where youngsters such as Nigerian Emmanuel Ekpo can flourish through more opportunities.

"Also, Crew games have excellent atmosphere. The "Nordecke" brings an authentic soccer atmosphere and improves at a dramatic pace weekly."
