3/14/09: Alex Grendi Signs

Sorry for the delay on news, catching up on sleep today. But, Alex Grendi has signed with the Crew as a developmental. I thought this deal was completed a couple of weeks ago but it's been around the wire today and yesterday and I found this statement by Bliss interesting on Grendi:

"Alex wasn't much of a known quantity going into the [MLS Player] Combine [in January], but he showed well there and has proven during the preseason that he can make a contribution," Crew technical director Brian Bliss said. "He's making steady progress and adds depth at a couple of different positions in our attack."

According to Shawn Mitchell, Grendi will make $20,100, also it seems Grendi has an excellent attitude.

"I was told the most important thing was to commit to (making the team) right away or not commit at all," he said. "I know a lot of stars in this league started off as developmental players."

Do you think Grendi will be a surprise? How many minutes will he log in 2009?
