2/20/09: All Aboard

Regardless of whether or not you're a Democrat, Republican or Independent, we can all agree that Obama's new stimulus package has one project that will make soccer supporters across the country excited. A regional (possibly nationwide) high speed/light rail system is on its way and there are plans to have a stop in Columbus, Hilliard and North Columbus.

Among the MLS away venues accessible via rail will be Chicago, Philly, New York, and DC. Connect in Detroit or Buffalo to Canada's rail system and you can easily get to Toronto as well.

Put the politics aside for a second. Does this appeal to you the average Joe MLS Supporter? I don't know about you, but I don't trust my car to make it all the way to New York or DC, so I say yes. What do you think?

If you want to read up more on this, go to the DOT site and see the maps. Pretty cool stuff.

Also, Cincy's 700 WLW had one of the DOT's project managers on The Eddie and Tracy Show yesterday in hour 2. About 1/4 of the way through the podcast is the light rail interview. The first part of the show is more reaction to the crazy monkey lady. Classic!
