2/19/09: Old Crew Finding New Homes

**Rusty Pierce, who hasn't played soccer since his last season with the Crew in 2007 before being waived, was signed today by the USL-2 Wilmington Hammerheads for the 2009 season.

**Former Crew Goalkeeper draftee Billy Chiles, who was not selected to be signed before the 2008 season, has kept on with soccer and has landed a contract with USL-2 Crystal Palace Baltimore for the 2009 season.

**And, to keep it all USL-2, the Carolina Railhawks have signed Cleveland City Stars and former Crew trialist Sallieu Bundu of Sierra Leone. By trialist, Bundu had more of a glorified tryout with the Crew, but not yet ready for MLS the Crew recommended Bundu to go to the City Stars. After scoring 11 goals for the City Stars last year Bundu decided to follow former City Stars Coach Rennie to the Railhawks today as the City Stars selected a new coach for USL-1.

Bundu said, "I wanted to play with Coach Rennie for a couple more years. I had the opportunity of going to Europe or MLS but I knew that if I was going to stay in America I wanted to work with him. I love this facility and I am here to play soccer to the best of my ability and with God's grace I am looking to give the fans something to look forward to."

I wonder if the opportunity with MLS was with the Crew? Also have to wonder if the Crew have a discovery? Bundu was called up recently by Sierra Leone. Sounds like Bundu could have been another Moffat-esque type pickup.
