2/14/09: Crew Pick Up First Preseason Win, Down U.S. U-20's 3-1

Newcomers Alex Grendi and Anthony Peters had good days for the Crew against the U.S. U-20's. Grendi picked up two assists and Peters had a nice header goal. Is Peters Chad Marshall version 2.0?

The Crew won their final preseason match in Bradenton, Florida today by a score of 3-1 over the U.S. U-20 team. The Crew struck first in the 37th minute when Moreno was taken down in the box and GBS capitialized per usual from the penalty spot. In the 74th minute, newcomers Alex Grendi and Anthony Peters hooked up for the second goal to make it 2-0. Late in the game, the U.S. U-20's got on the board finally through a goal from FC Dallas player Brek Shea in the 83rd minute. To close out the scoring, new assist man Alex Grendi found his second assist of the day in the 89th minute to close out the game with a score of 3-1.

Also it appears from the rosters on Black & Gold Standard that Will Hesmer didn't play at all today. Did Hesmer pick up an injury along with backup keeper Andy Greunebaum? When I find out I'll let you guys know.
